IMBECILE
Released on 20th June 2007 on Discograph. Live band members are Bertrand Belin as 'Fernand', Armelle Pioline as 'Hélène', Barbara Carlotti as 'Thérèse' and JP Nataf as René. The productive Olivier Libaux (Nouvelle Vague) is the creator of this original project "Imbecile": a four voice album and theatre show. Imbecile is a "scenarized album, which borrows from the universe of the cinema, with four characters dining together. The album leads to a show, part concert part theatre". The creation of Imbecile started back in 2003, when Libaux asked Philippe Katerine to sing the track which gave its title to the album, the songs then fell into place. Of seven characters, the casting was brought back to four main ones, they formed a small dinner party between friends, where one passes from banter to confidences. One suggests a meeting between Labiche and Resnais, Olivier Libaux replies Marivaux and Sautet. Equitably distributed between Philippe Katerine, Helena Noguerra, Barbara Carlotti and JP Nataf, (on the album) 'le Petit Succès', 'l'Amour à la française', 'Mes belles années' ou 'les Faux Sourires' form an strong storyline, refined and wrongfully naive which carries the Libaux brand based on a "juxtaposition of serious texts and light melodies". Its scenic mise en scene: a table, four chairs and a musical accompaniment (guitar / double bass / keys / drums), Olivier Libaux included, but not in the limelight!
